Fernandinho and Adriano – about girls, samba and shurashka

Today, May 14, they have held the ceremony for awarding the midfielder Fernandinho, the Player of the Month (April), and the forward Luiz Adriano, the Scorer of the Goal of the Month. The event was held at the Donetsk College of Technology and Design - the place attended by the the Pitmen’s most active supporters. Traditionally, the players were handed the awards by a veteran of Shakhtar. This time, Ihor Leonov, the legendary captain of the Orange-and-Blacks of the 1990s, has volunteered to accomplish the honourable mission.

As usual, the glass ball awards ceremony was followed by the inormal communication - questions from the students. So, right from the off, the youngsters asked the players to pick the better player from the two - Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. Without hesitating for a second, Luiz Adriano said that Fernandinho is better than both of them, while the modest Ferna picked the Argentine. The lady-students also did not neglect the opportunity: they were asking questions about how to become players’ wives and learn to dance samba properly.
 
Now, first things first:
 
- What are your future plans?
Luiz Adriano: - First of all, my plans include going on vacation and some rest at the end of the season. (Laughs) As for the professional future, I want to win as many titles as possible, preferably in the Champions League.
Fernandinho: - I want a daughter! I already have a son.
 
- What are your hobbies besides football?
Luiz Adriano: - I love to cook shurashka (kebab) and dance the samba.
Fernandinho: - Besides football, I love my family.
 
- Why did you choose football?
Luiz Adriano: - Because football is better than anything else in the world! If it were not for football, I can’t even imagine what I would be doing.
Fernandinho: - This is my profession, I earn a living this way.
 
- Do you like Ukrainian girls?
Luiz Adriano: - Yes, of course! My daughter is Ukrainian, she received Ukrainian ID.
Fernandinho: - I like them, they are beautiful.
 
- How to marry a football player?
Fernandinho: - Oh, she must undergo special training and be sure to go to the stadium. (Laughs.)
 
- Did you try borsch and local bacon?
Luiz Adriano: - Yes, of course, I did.
Fernandinho: - I tried borsch, but not the local bacon.
 
- Do you want your kids to play football?
Fernandinho: - Yes, I do. My son already begins to play football at home. But if Davie wants to become a professional player, I will support his decision.
Luiz Adriano: - I'd like Alicia to became a psychologist in the future.
 
- Fernandinho, and if you have a daughter, what will she be?
- If I have a daughter, she will have to learn, and then to choose the occupation on her own.
 
- What does Shakhtar mean to you at the moment?
Fernandinho: - This club means a lot to me, because it opened up a lot of opportunities for me.
Luiz Adriano: - For me, Shakhtar is just like my family, because I spend as much time at the club as I do with my family.
 
- Do you take part in any charity events?
Fernandinho: - Yes, I do that in Brazil.
Luiz Adriano: - In my home place in Brazil, I also hold various charity events.
 
- What feelings did you experience when you won the UEFA Cup?
Luiz Adriano: - Up to now I still can’t forget those feelings! It was a big step towards the team growth.
Fernandinho: - Yes, it was a great emotion!
 
- Who is your idol in football?
Luiz Adriano: - Romario.
Fernandinho: - Romario and Seedorf.
 
- Do you know the full name of The King Pelé?
Fernandinho: - Edson Arantes do Nascimento.
 
- Who of your teammates is the hardest to play against in training?
Luiz Adriano: - Against Kucher.
Fernandinho: - I agree. We even call him Baresi!
 
- Do you agree that Shakhtar have issues defensively?
Luiz Adriano: - I do not agree!
Fernandinho: - Are you asking or stating it? (Laughs.)
 
- Did you ever want to be the captain of the team?
Luiz Adriano: - No.
Fernandinho: - I sometimes act as the skipper.
 
- Do you have any idols in life, besides football ones? Your favourite actor, for example ...
Fernandinho: - None.
Luiz Adriano: - These are my parents.
 
- What would you like to do after your football career? How do you see yourself in a few years?
Fernandinho: - Being very, very quiet. (Laughs.)
Luiz Adriano: - I will dance the samba after retiring.

- Do you have any bad signs or superstitions?
Both: - We pray before taking to the pitch. Because we are both believers.
 
- Do you continue to communicate with Jadson?
Fernandinho: - Yes, of course. Because Jadson has long been a friend of mine.
Luiz Adriano: - I also communicate with him. Maybe not so frequently, but we keep in touch.
 
- Do you visit beauty salons?
Fernandinho: - I do when have my hair cut.
Luiz Adriano: - Me either, when I need a haircut. Or when I need to tidy my beard.
 
- By the way, Luiz, why do you have a white beard?
Luiz Adriano: - I lost in a video game, so this is my kind of punishment!
 
- What is your favourite recreation facility in Donetsk?
Fernandinho: - My best recreation spot is my home. When you do what you like.
Luiz Adriano: - I agree to that. For me it's two things: shurashka and samba.
 
- There are many rumours about the joint league of Ukraine and Russia. How do you feel about this idea?
Luiz Adriano: - This is not a very good idea. I do not like it.
Fernandinho: - Once, I already answered this question. From the point of view of the players it is difficult because of the long flights. And if we talk about raising the level, of course it would be good. So the joint league has its strengths and weaknesses.
 
- Luiz, not so long ago there was talk about your Ukrainian passport and a chance to play for the national team of the country. Do you still have that desire?
Luiz Adriano: - Yes, this idea is still valid. But I'm waiting for an offer. If I receive it, I will take that route.
 
- What can you say about your coach? Just a few words.
Fernandinho: - He is a great coach. He has had some great achievements over nine years in Ukraine. Our team has great respect for Mister. Personally, I learned a lot from him, for which I am very grateful to him.
Luiz Adriano: - I have the same opinion. Mister taught us a lot of things. He is the man I, just like all the players, respect. He gave Shakhtar a lot.
 
- Luiz, why don’t you score as often as you would like to? Not in every game.
Luiz Adriano: - Besides the technical performance, a lot depends on luck. There are games in which I scored one or two goals, and there are games when I can’t score at all. This is a game.
 
- How do you feel about women's football? After all, the world cups and European competitions with the participation of girls are held regularly ...
Luiz Adriano: - Right, I know. I like women's soccer. Sometimes I watch it.
Fernandinho: - I don’t watch it. I do not like women's football.
 
Having satisfied the hunger for information, the students did not let the players leave for a long while - a photo shoot with the idols kicked off. The girls were especially zealous!
 
- To be honest, it is a lot easier to adapt to a football team than to this, mainly girls’ company as we have here today, - joked Luiz Adriano.
