Valais Cup: Shakhtar start with a win

On 6 July, Shakhtar started their campaign in the international tournament Valais Cup. The Pitmen’s first opponents were Sion, Switzerland.

As always, you can view the teams’ squads in the match report. During Darijo Srna’s absence, Oleksandr Kucher was captaining the squad.

4 minutes. The first shot on goal. Ramirez found an opportunity to shoot goalwards fron the edge of the penalty area. However, the opposition player failed to strike the ball cleanly, allowing Kanibolotskiy to make an easy save.

5 minutes. Shakhtar responded with a Gladkiy shot following a cross from Ismaily. Sion’s goalkeeper Vanin made a save.

11 minutes. Butko made a run down the right flank, drifted towards the centre to cross into the penalty area. Teixeira and Gladkiy failed to connect with the ball, although it was quite dangerous.

18 minutes. Taison troubled Vanin with a shot from distance – Sion’s goalkeeper made a save. Stepanenko came first on the rebound, but the assistant referee flagged Taison for offside.

20 minutes. Swiss team earned a free-kick in the half of Shakhtar’s pitch. Ramirez curled the ball goalwards, but Kanibolotskiy turned the ball away for a corner.

26 minutes. Fred picked up the ball, expertly beat the opponent to fire a powerful effort with a left foot – the ball flew wide of the crossbar.

33 minutes. The opposition team orchestrated an attacking move through the centre. Ryufli fed Karlen, who fired the ball over the crossbar.

37 minutes. Goal – 1:0! Gladkiy scored his fifth goal at the summer training camp. Ismaily delivered a cross to the far post for Oleksandr to send the ball in.

46 minutes. During the break, Mircea Lucescu made two substitutions. Pyatov and Kryvtsov replaced Kanibolotskiy and Butko.

48 minutes. Lacruah was awarded the first yellow card in the match, fouling on Taison.

56 minutes. Fred brought Taison into play, before the latter drilled a cross to the far post towards Gladkiy. Oleksandr failed to meet the ball.

63 minutes. Ryufli was awarded the yellow card.

65 minutes. Ferreyra came on for Gladkiy and Bolbat replaced Dentinho.

71 minutes. Fedele saw his low shot fly wide.

72 minutes. Sobol and Volovyk replaced Ismaily and Rakitskiy.

75 minutes. Teixeira delivered a cross straight to Taison, but after a shot the ball went wide of the target.

77 minutes. Kobin and Fernando replaced Kucher and Fred.

82 minutes. Lacruah received the ball inside the penalty area to shoot goalwards – Pyatov parried the ball away.

90+1 minutes. Pyatov made a fine save from a free-kick.

90+3 minutes. Carlitos fed Ryufli, overlapped and received a great pass before shooting a powerful shot that hit the crossbar.
