Throughout the tour of Brazil, the team was under close scrutiny by the mass media. Reporters literally dogged Shakhtar.

On this occasion, the press office of Shakhtar tried to figure out what Brazilians think about Donetsk, what they know about the country and the club. To do so, we have prepared five simple questions and posed them to our Brazilian counterparts representing the most popular media: Globo, ESPN, Trivela.com and some others. We are pleased to share the results of our consolidated survey.

1. What do you know about Donetsk?

The capital of Donbass is known in Brazil as a beautiful European city and economic centre, whose residents love football. At the same time, the Brazilians know that there is a war going on in Donetsk at the moment. They are horrified to read the news reports and sincerely wish that this nightmare stops as soon as possible.

2. What do you know about Shakhtar?

For Brazilians, the Donetsk club might be not quite native, but a very close one. Naturally, due to the large number of their compatriots present there. The Pitmen’s European club games are rated pretty high here, and the team’s tour of Brazil has caused an unprecedented interest among fans. Attendance figures at Shakhtar’s matches certainly confirm this fact.

3. Who is the best Brazilian player in the team?

In this issue, quite naturally, our counterparts’ opinions differ. Each Donetsk Brazilian has exceptional football qualities, so they named very different players. However, most of the journalists noted the successful performance of Luiz Adriano. Many believe that the Pitmen’s vice-captain is in his best form. Alex Teixeira was also frequently mentioned in the answers.

4. What can Brazilians learn from Ukrainians in common and football terms?

Combining the respondents' opinions, we want to distinguish three things: discipline, strategy and tactics.

5. When will the Slavs flood Brazilian football?

In discussions on this topic, our peers have shown themselves to be real patriots. Many journalists clearly insisted that the chances of Ukraine national team to ever beat Brazil are incredibly small. But more frequently we encountered the following laconic reply by a smiling reporter: “Never. Sorry.”
