Shakhtar vs Olimpik: players’ opinion

After the victory in the Donetsk derby, the Pitmen talked to the club's press office.

Marlos, Shakhtar’s midfielder:

- I am very happy and grateful that today I was fielded in the starting eleven. I always wait for such moments to prove that I can do something too. I think today is my lucky day! I scored two goals, I helped the team - I'm happy. Moreover, Mister has just congratulated us in the dressing room, saying that it was a good game, and most importantly,  the team showed its character. Therefore, I will not single out anyone at Shakhtar, but at Olimpik I would highlight Issa Sheriff - he created a lot of problems for us. But that’s what Shakhtar are all about; we have to show great team football. I would also like to say special thanks to Hladkyi and Teixeira, who assisted me when I scored. As for me, I wanted to score three goals today, but I will do it in the future. It was hard after an unsuccessful match with Bayern, but now the atmosphere in the team is better. The main thing is to gear up to become the domestic champions. And I'm sure it's possible. We will work hard for it.

Alex Teixeira, Shakhtar’s midfielder:

- Having conceded seven goals in the last match, we had a hard time. But today we have proved that we are professionals; we have pulled ourselves together to register a win. After the game, Mister congratulated us, saying that we showed character, but he also stressed that this should be done in every match. Perhaps, to some extent, we made up for the game in Munich in today’s match. Six goals - it's great. But I would like to highlight Marlos’ second goal – it was very spectacular! Plus, I scored after his cross. True, I am a little disappointed that in the first half I failed to score with a header. Although I should note that Olimpik are growing with each match. Compared to the match in the first half of the championship, this team stepped up their game, and the match itself was harder today. 

Anton Kanibolotskiy, Shakhtar’s goalkeeper:

- We clearly understood that we needed to forget the game in Munich and make up for that result as soon as possible. Well, today it happened and we managed to please the fans with plenty of goals. And, of course, I cannot say that I had a lot of work in this game. Yes, I had not played for long time, and I had to have time to feel the game. But in general, I'm satisfied - we have achieved a positive result, with the whole team playing well. And it's nice. Especially given that we have agreed with the guys to forget the game in Munich as soon as possible. Of course, the bad feeling remained, but we need to move on. I think today we did it.
