Quote of the match - Mircea Lucescu:
- I really liked the opponents - technical, competent defensively, with passion to win, with great set play. Therefore, it was hugely important for us to win and do without injuries. We managed to achieve that, even despite our squad problems: with Duljaj, Srna, Lewandowski and Lashtuvka missing.

Highlight of the match
Mircea Lucescu… missed this match. The head coach of Shakhtar had been hospitalized because of heart problems, and the doctors advised him to avoid the unnecessary worries if possible. However, the team did everything possible not to make Mister worry.
Figure of the match - 1
Vasyl Kobin, who moved from the city to Donetsk during the summer break, made his first appearance for Shakhtar.
Man of the match - Luiz Adriano
Shakhtar forward turned in an excellent performance. In the opening stages, Luiz – upon receiving a pass from Lewandowski – beat the keeper in a one-on-one situation. And on 30 minutes, the Brazilian won the ball again and claimed a brace.
Quote of the match - Alexandru Spiridon:
- The first half proved very good, we have created a lot of dangerous episodes in it. After the break we got to the pitch being somewhat complacent, allowing the opponents to create a number of half-chances. Most likely, some players were subconsciously looking forward to our Wednesday’s Champions League game.
