Mykola Matviyenko: Leya Iseka makes great runs
Defender of Shakhtar U-19 gave an interview to matchday.ua. Its main subject is the upcoming meeting with Belgium’s Anderlecht in the UEFA Youth League semi-final.
On the preparation
- The meeting is really important for all of us. Nevertheless, the preparation is the same as before any other game, regardless of whether it is the domestic league or the Champions League. It’s important for us to win any game. I can definitely say that the match will not be easy. We all rely on and believe in our victory.
On the meeting with Karpaty
- For us, it was the last test before taking on Anderlecht. We had to show how prepared each player and the team as a whole is. The win at Karpaty showed that the team is in great shape and ready to win.
About the League League draw
- Why we wanted Porto as our opponents? Two group stage games against them ended in a draw. We would like to meet with them again to prove that we are stronger. But we didn’t get upset after learning that we would play against Anderlecht. We will play against the Belgian team for the first time, so it will also be very interesting.
About the opponents
- So far, we have little information. The coaches have stressed to us the fact that Anderlecht are very strong teamwork wise. Also, all their players are quite pacey. We viewed the games with their participation. I think the result will depend on converting our chances. We must convert any of them, as they are never numerous in such games.
About the scorer Aaron Leya Iseka
- I watch him closely. The guy makes great runs, so I will try to play it tight against him and not give him any space.
About Anderlecht as the favourites
- It’s not that important what the bookmakers think. The game will reveal it all!
About penalty shoot-out
- Yes, we practised it, we took spot kicks in training.
About personnel
- Besides old injuries (Ichuaidze, Kuksenko, Filin), some players have minor injuries, but I think they will be available for the game.
