(U-19) Shakhtar vs Chelsea: players’ reaction

Players of the Donetsk team have commented on the final match of UEFA Youth League.

Andriy Boryachuk, Shakhtar U-19 forward:

- We have come a long way. Today was a tough match in which we put in a lot of effort. I do not think we did not deserve to win it. Although, of course, it was nice when we were awarded by Michel Platini. But it was important to take first place. In the first half we played pretty well, creating enough chances, and in twenty minutes we even dominated. And in the second half ...  We got relaxed or maybe something else happened; I don’t know. But we tried to give our best to the very end. I will say this: these competitions provide invaluable experience, which I saw for myself.

Oleksandr Pikhalyonok, Shakhtar U-19 midfielder:

- It's always a pity when you lose, especially in the final. I believe that we were inferior in many components, although we played well in the first half. In the second half of the match we conceded two goals, and our opponents turned the game around. Then we again took control of the game, but it was too late. If we had had two or three minutes, we could have possibly done on something else. Chelsea are very strong team, every players in their team is a leader. I would highlight Solanki, Musonda, Bogu and the many other guys. In the dressing room our coach pointed out our mistakes and congratulated on the completion of the tournament. He said that we did a good job, making such a long way and played in an organised manner throughout the UEFA Youth League. It was nice when we were awarded by Michel Platini, it is just a pity that we did not win.
