Oleh Kudryk: First team have greater speed and workloads
One of the characters of the latest issue of the club magazine is Shakhtar U-19 goalkeeper. In the UEFA Youth League, Oleh Kudryk saved three penalties in a row: in the games against Olympiakos and Benfica. Just a unique case in football. An exclusive interview with the young goalkeeper is presented in the issue in a digital format. We bring you some extracts from the material.
- How do you act in the spot kick situation: are you trying to follow the ball or just guess the corner?
- I just guess it. I always choose just this tactic. Since it’s hard to follow the ball trajectory.
- Is it generally possible to react to the ball path at all?
- If they shoot it right into the corner from that range, it is unlikely that you will have time to jump to reach it. I know that Shovkovskyi tries to follow the ball. But for me that's hard.
- Do you have an idol among goalkeepers?
- Yes, I do. That's Gianluigi Buffon. I very much like his saving technique, his cutting off the angle. It’s evident that he is a true leader, I also strive to do so.
- You spent a short training camp with the first team in Cyprus. Are training sessions of the first team any different from those of U-19 team?
- Yes, there is a difference. They have greater speed and workloads. But I try to keep up with them and do everything exactly as they say. It seems to work fine.
