In the Ukrainian Super Cup match, the Pitmen will face Dynamo Kyiv. We bring you the preview of the game.

14 July, Odesa, Chornomorets, 21:00

Live broadcast on Ukraina and Futbol 1 channels

The previous season was left behind. The match in Odesa will be only the echo of that game only in terms of the team-participants, and de facto will kick off the new football year.

For both teams, winning the Super Cup is an ideal start. It is clear that there is no point in reminding about the importance of the match-up and desire to beat their main arch-rival.

In summer, Shakhtar and Dynamo managed to take a rest and had training camps. Thinking about the teams’ form and their readiness for the season ahead of the start of the official matches is impossible. It is the game on Tuesday that will partially shed light regarding this issue.

Officials

Referee – Anatoliy Zhabchenko (Khmelnitskiy)
Assistant referee – Serhiy Bekker, Oleh Pluzhnik (both – Kharkiv)
Fourth official – Anatoliy Abdula (Kharkiv)
Referee observer – Viktor Derdo (Kharkiv)

Personnel

During the summer mid-season, midfielder Radosav Petrovic and Mykola Morozyuk joined Dynamo, as well as Junior Moraes. Besides, Maksim Koval and Serhiy Myakushko have returned from loan. Both of them were included in the team’s league squad.

The fans are already aware about Shakhtar’s personnel changes: Douglas Costa, Luiz Adriano and Fernando joined other clubs, Ilisnho’s contract expired. Facundo Ferreyra and Vasyl Kobin returned to the Pitmen’s ranks, plus Mykola Matvienko, Maksym Malyshev and Serhiy Gryn. Croatian’s forward Eduardo signed a contract with the club.

The previous season started with a match with such a billing. The teams played in Lviv. In the debut of the match, the opponents exchanged with dangerous crosses, but both teams played reliably in defence. On 9 minutes, Shovkovskiy had to come to rescue: Srna picked up the ball before firing in a great shot into the corner of the net. A little later Hladkyi sent the ball towards the corner of the net – just wide of the goal post. The Kyiv side responded with shots from Mobakani and Kalitvintsev that were saved by Kanibolotskiy. As a result, none of the teams took the lead before the break.

In the second half, the game was as intensive as in the first period. Its logical development was Shakhtar’s goal on 75 minutes. Hladkyi won the battle against two defenders, bore down on goal against Shovkovskiy and beat him 1-0. In the end of the game, the Kyiv team went forward looking for equaliser and lost another goal: Bolbat started the counterattack and fed Marlos who made it 2-0.

We remind you that you can purchase tickets online on FC Shakhtar’s official site.

- Both teams reached a good level – I didn’t expect it at the start of season, - Mircea Lucescu noted after the final whistle. Today's match was so emotional at both ends. It was an even game for 90 minutes. Any of the teams could win - we were lucky, we won. Probably we had more patience and capitalised on some chances after Dynamo exposed themselves, leaving spaces for our counterattacks.
