Before match

Shakhtar got to Uzhgorod with difficulties because of tough weather conditions. Anton Kanibolotskyy, Ismaily, Taison and Facundo Ferreyra were fielded in the starting line-up. Bernard was left on the subs’ bench, Oleksandr Gladkyy was not in the match squad due to light injury.

First half

In the beginning of the game, Shakhtar created a few scoring opportunities. After an Ismaily cross, the ball came close to crossing the goal line, Yaroslav Rakytskyy missed the target, the opposition goalkeeper saved a long shot from Taras Stepanenko. There was also an episode when Hoverla’s goalkeeper brought down Alex Teixeira, but the referee awarded a corner kick. The scoring was opened in the 10th minute: Rakytskyy curled a shot to send the ball past the opposition goalkeeper to make it  0-1.

The Pitmen totally controlled the game, but soon they were hit on the break, when Khlyobas beat the opponent inside the penalty area to shoot into the top corner of the net: the ball hit the goal post and flew into the net – 1-1. The game became more even, and then the Pitmen stepped up their attacking game. On 28 minutes, Taison took a dangerous shot from outside the penalty area – the goalkeeper parried the ball away for a corner. Taison drilled a cross from a corner to the near post, the ball took deflection and into the net. In the next attacking move, a cross from Teixeira followed, the Hoverla goalkeeper parried the ball away for onrushing Marlos to send the ball in to make it 1-3.

The hosts responded with a dangerous attacking move, but on 35 minutes the Pitmen extended their lead. Darijo Srna made a cross from a corner for Ferreyra, who had been left unmarked, to head the ball in to make it 1-4. Before the half time break, Taison had to leave the pitch due to an injury. He was replaced by Viktor Kovalenko.

Second half

The hosts tried to change something on the pitch, but the Pitmen continued piling on pressure. Ismaily had a chance, but the goalkeeper managed to save a shot towards the shot towards the corner of the net, and Ferreyra failed to seize on the rebound; the ball hit the goal post and flew into the net.  Late on Ferreyra missed the target after a cross from Marlos. Midway through the second half, Mircea Lucescu brought Eduardo on, and later – Dentinho.

On 67 minutes, the league top scorer Alex Teixeira got on the scoresheet, seizing on a diagonal pass from Srna and firing the ball in from close range. After five minutes Srna won a penalty kick, which was converted by Teixeira, who netted his 21^st goal in 14 matches – 1-6. Dentinho could have scored a brilliant goal, but his curling shot from outside the penalty area flew just wide of the top corner. Eduardo had two chances to score: his free kick shot towards under the roof of the net was saved by Hoverla’s goalkeeper, who then parried away a headed shot after a corner.

Having claimed a 6-1 win in Uzhgorod, the Pitmen continue topping the league table, claiming 40 points. In the next round, Shakhtar will play their home game with Karpaty in Odesa on 3 December, which will be the final game in the Autumn part of the league.
