Shakhtar-2014: Mircea Lucescu’s records
In 2014, milestone events took place in the history of Shakhtar. Mircea Lucescu set a number of records. Both club and Ukrainian ones. Brilliant landmarks also took place.
On 16 May, it was exactly 10 years since Mister took over the team. In addition to this date being a milestone one, Lucescu set higher the bar of the club’s coaching record and the Ukrainian one regarding the period of working with one team. As of now, it is 10 years and 7 months.
On 22 July, in the match for the Ukrainian Super Cup, Shakhtar beat Dynamo 2-0. This trophy became the Pitmen’s 20th trophy under Mircea Lucescu. The Pitmen’s coach is the most decorated one in the Ukrainian football.
15 August, Shakhtar scored a milestone goal. On 90+1 minutes of the match with Olimpik Donetsk, Taras Stepanenko scored a goal that became the Pitmen’s 1 000 goal under Mircea Lucescu.
5 December, the Pitmen played the league game with Hoverla, which was Mircea Lucescu’s 500 game. In that game, the Pitmen got their 350th win under Mister in all official games.
