Introducing opponents: Chelsea U-19
On April 13 at 17:00 Shakhtar will face Chelsea in the final of the UEFA Youth League. It's time to talk about the Pitmen’s opponents.
The English giants can boast not only the success of the first team, but also one of the best football Academies in Europe. In the 2013-14 season Chelsea did Double by winning the FA Youth Cup and the domestic U-21 league.
Perhaps the main weapon of the Pitmen’s opponents is experience. Jose Mourinho actively deploys players of the U-19 team to train with the senior side. Some of them have already managed to make their debut in the Chelsea senior squad. A defensive midfielder Andreas Christensen and forwards Ruben Loftus-Cheek with Dominic Solanki. The latter deserves special attention. After a big victory in the last-4 game versus Roma, Solanki is topping the list of the Youth League top scorers. He has netted 11 goals, making 3 assists.
Also, among the leaders of the Chelsea U-19 are defenders Ola Aina, Jake Clark Salter, midfielder Charlie Kolkett, striker Isaiah Brown. The team are coached by 46-year-old British expert Adi Viveash.
