Shakhtar ready for Youth Champions League final

Today, 13 April, at 17:00 Ukrainian time, the Pitmen will face Chelsea in the UEFA Youth League final. A few hours before the start of the match – on the preparation for it.

- Nyon hosted a series of events - FC Shakhtar Academy Director Oleksandr Funderat says. - Our coaching staff played a match with the UEFA representatives. At the same time, Avagimyan, Merkushov, Senitskiy and Shevchenko took to the field with four players from Chelsea – various competitions were organised for them: they had to get the ball into the UEFA box, hit the crossbar from the penalty spot, juggle, and in the fourth competition, they had to send the ball into a basket following headed passes. The nice thing is that everyone reacted to these events with pleasure and a smile. No winners were determined, but by our guys looked stronger in all competitions. In addition, the team visited the headquarters of the UEFA. There was held a session, where issues of refereeing, doping control and communication of young players with the media were raised.

Shakhtar U-19 head coach Valeriy Kryventsov has talked about the preparation for the game versus Chelsea:

- Yesterday we spent ninety minutes on a theory session and then we went to the gym. Then, we returned to have a rest, dinner, and from 19:30 the team again had a theory session – we studied how the English side perform set pieces. That's all. In Nyon, we did not go for a walk; we did not have time. In general, the situation is calm, everyone is in a good mood. In general, we are preparing for the final.
