Players of the Donetsk team have reflected on the match with Dnipro.

Oleksandr Hladkyi, Shakhtar’s forward:

- We went into the match with all guns blazing. In general, we have a good advantage, but we will have to forget about it. The second game will be even harder. Today I managed to score a goal. Dentinho took a corner, the ball flew into the penalty box, I saw it to move there to fire it into the net first time. There was a period when Taison made a very good pass to me, but I failed to receive it. I have said many times that Dnipro are very strong team, games with them are always hard for Shakhtar. I think we deservedly won. During the break, Mister said that we need to have a greater control over the ball and look for chances to counterattack. We have done so. I would single out Teixeira today. Dentinho looked very good. Defenders also did well.

Andriy Pyatov, Shakhtar’s goalkeeper:

- It is always nice to win. Especially when you score right before the half time. Therefore, after the goal we had to stick to our lead: play well defensively and again score a goal. I think that if we had scored one more goal, in the second leg we would have felt much more confident. As for the penalty, I did not jump at random, I was remaining in the centre right until the end. Because I know Yevhen Seleznyov, I know how he takes penalty-kicks! So, now our personal score is 1-1. It is good that we won, but we need to think about the next game - with Volyn. We must prepare for it and take points in every game, with fighting to the end.

Vyacheslav Shevchuk, Shakhtar’s defender:

- Matches with Dnipro are always difficult. But today, we have created more scoring chances. However, in some episodes we could have played better in defence and in attack. Plus, I think, after a goal scored before the break, we took to the pitch a little relaxed, and we briefly sat deep. Can I call today’s scoreline comfortable? The scoreline which will allow us to reach the Cup final will be considered comfortable. Moreover, I think the second leg will be very difficult: none of the teams will change the style of play.
